Ladislav Longauer wins a qualification TT in Kopenhagen, Denmark

Series of qualification races UCI World Cycling Tour for this year's World Masters Championships taking part in Italian Trento in September, started all around the globe. Riders finishing in the top 25% of their age group in respective races qualify for the Worlds.

The Time Trial held on May 10 was 26,5km long with a steep 500m climb right after the finish. The race was rather technical with many curves and climbs. Finishline was in a descent with some riders reaching an average speed of 70km/h.

“I went to see the TT track by bike on the eve prior to the race, so I knew what to expect. I was well aware I couldn't go the first climb at full speed and save the energy for later, but after the hilltop I gave it all I could. My average speed was always between 40-50km/h. I was slightly afraid of the finish due to crossing a lokal bike path with a bit of en elevation but since I was aware of it, I managed to jump it without any problems. I'm very happy for my victory and also for qualifying for the Worlds!” said Longauer in the finish.

A road qualification series followed two days later, on May 12. Many riders did not finish the race due to a fall or technical problems in the technical and narrow course with many road obstacles. Temperature was not very pleasant this day either, 8 degrees Celsius and rain followed the riders all day long. Ladislav finished 9th in the bunch sprint.
