Čanecký victorious at Veľká Lúka and also at Badín
Regional league is drawing to its end. It had on the programme 11th and 12th semi-final round.
In the 11th round, the last individual time trial from Horná Mičiná to Veľká Lúka, all time trial front-runners started with one goal. To achieve victory and to defeat Fraňo in this race, who hadn´t been defeated for 3 years, and to break the two years old record that always trembles in the balance. For this purpose the spectators could see record-breaking number of time trials specialists that reached the number seven. Also Marek Čanecký, the top front-runner, found out that he cannot leave nothing to chance and came equipped at highly technical level. Quality, cutting-edge equipment and culminating form of riders in the end of season promised furious combats. Besides, it has become a custom that time trial was spiced up with a bet between Fraňo and Rusin. Defeated one had to “remove” his hair for a time being and show a bald head.
Finally, all expectations came true. Marek Čanecký, who is in his top form and he was placed to wider nomination for World Championship Elite in road bicycle racing and at the same time he broke a track record with a new record 12,06 minutes, won. The old record of Zverko dropped by ten seconds. The second place went to Špilák, in the same time as the third Fraňo, when tenths of seconds decided about the second place. Couple Špilák-Fraňo left behind the old record only by 4 seconds and 14 seconds behind victorious Čanecký. Unpopular fourth place went to Rusina with the loss of 37 seconds to a victor and there was nothing else to do than to prepare for a new hair cut.
Regional league continued in two weeks with the 12th, semi-final round, race of individuals at Badín. Cyclo-cross riders, who took place in the training camp in High Tatras, were missing at the start. Weakened lineup of CK BB was outsmarted by Čanecký who was racing in his top form. Field of riders held together for a long time and it has been spurting for points in the activity competition. The most active rider in spurts was Rusina, but in the final ascent, when Čanecký attacked, he couldn´t cope with the best ones. Finally, Marek Čanecký won, ahead of Hraško and Debnár. In overall ranking, Rusina is continuously in the lead, ahead of Hraško and Debnár. The four worst placings will be cancelled in the final summation what can change the ranking on the leading positions. Crucial will be definitely also points from final time trial to Šturec that will take place on 24th September at 4:45 pm.
